Dear Volunteers

My name is Chuck I am a year 5 student from Elm Park School.

We would like to thank you for the trip and time we spend on Tiritiri Matangi.

I would like to tell you about what I enjoyed the most.  The watch house was my favourite because I learnt how they looked out for the boats and ships in foggy weather. There was also some old maps we could look at and I found this interesting. The views from the top was great.

During our walk on the Island we saw a lot of nature and the best part of it all was the variety of native birds we saw with their birdhouses in the trees and the stones we got to skip over the ocean.

Reflection 

I was learning to write a letter to the people who came with as to are trip. I learn lots about are trip we went to.I liked the lighthouse I saw interesting maps on the wall. I found it fun for my class room.

Reflection I was learning to do a to z challenge I fonud this task hard for me and I had to resreach the whale facts. And I learn more adout whales. I well work on my writeing next time.

Reflection I was leaning to do a news from kiwi kids news I did the tall blacks vs the japan.I learn that the tall blacks were out to play by the NAB rookie.And the team that won was japan.I found this easy because it was easy to found in kiwi kids news  and read it and did my work.

Reflection
I am leaning to do compare and contrast to a blackbird and a tieke. It was hard to do this work for me.And it was hard for me to do my research a blackbird and a tieke.I learned about facts about  the blackbird and the tieke. 

tiritiri matagi

My reflection I am learning to do a tiritiri matangi bird research. I found it hard and easy on my work I bib and i had lots of facts on my research.

I moved the signs to the correct spaces.
I found this easy because i used the sign to help me with my math problem.

My Reflection:

 I was learning about the people o the NZ dollar bills.

I found it easy because I look through the book and that's how I got the answers.

My next step is to learn about other people in NZ.

I was learning to summarise information.

I found it tricky because I couldn't find clues about the animal.

My next step is to study more.

WALT use the scale on a ruler.

I am learning to use  scale on a ruler.I was able to know millimeters and cm. I found this tricky and hard at the same time. My next step is to count the lines to work out the millimeters.

My Reflection
I have  been leaning to find and summaries information by choosing the most important information.
I found this interesting because I got to know more about sir Ernest Rutherford.
I found summarising the information tricky because  the words were hard.
My next step is to find more information about him.   

NZ Write

My Reflection
I got a item to write about.  I wrote about a message in a bottle, I thought of lots of words before I wrote my poem. I am proud of my poem because I used good words.

Biopoem

I am learning to write a biopoem. It was helpful to have the paper to remind me about what words to write.

Summarising

Reflection:
I am learning to summaries texts.it was tricky to found key words. I had to read the texts carefully a few times.
It was helpful to do it with a teacher and a buddy. My next learning step is to think carefully when I summarise other texts.
